Tinsel-town

Wednesday morning I stood before 17 bright-eyed ninth-graders from Joplin, MO. They had arrived at YWAM Ozarks Monday morning, committed to spending their spring break serving us and the Ozark, AR region. Each day different YWAMers led a prayer time for a different country or topic. My turn came on Wednesday and the topic: Hollywood.

We had a team just arrive back from two months in North Africa. They trekked to remote villages where there is no running water, but where families have satellite TV in every home. This satellite TV is provided by their government wanting them to have a broader perspective of the world. Why pray for Hollywood? Because Hollywood is discipling the nations. Any individual or country with access to media, Hollywood influences on a daily basis.

I shared about the history of Hollywood: Daieda Wilcox [1862-1914] and her prayers for this area (then only 180 acres of orchard) to be a land of influence. I shared about Hollywood, described as the "mouthpiece" of America, and couldn't help, but remember the verse "from the mouth, the heart speaks." I shared about God as our Creator, the Original Artist, and His heart to redeem art, ALL ART.
